About Ingrid & Values

ingrid valentin psychotherapie

Ingrid graduated magna cum laude as a psychology consultant and is now on her way to both her Master of Science and her European Certificate of Psychotherapy. As a psychotherapist, Ingrid tries to combine “brain” and “heart” values.

The “heart” part made that she chose a humanistic, client-centred outlook on therapy. This means sessions are first and foremost guided by values such as empathy and unconditional acceptance. Instead of giving you ready-to-go advice, Ingrid will listen and help you listen to yourself. Ingrid chooses to make you feel listened to and respected in your own values.

Moving on to the “brain” part, Ingrid is a brain nerd, meaning she has a wide understanding of neuroscience and related sciences. In addition, your personal growth and your privacy are always on our mind.

For some people, psychoeducation is a crucial first step in therapy: understanding yourself and your struggles can make you more compassionate towards yourself. It can also help you find the solutions that work best for you. It seems that reading about psychology and self-development can make you feel less isolated (you’re not the only one who struggles with this). Similarly, it can reduce stress (by reducing pressure about how you should feel) and increase hope (by reading about other people who overcame their difficulties).
